Grand Theft Auto V originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360. Though later enhanced, its engine was built for older hardware. In contrast, Grand Theft Auto VI is designed exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Lighting & Ray Tracing
GTA 6 showcases realistic reflections, advanced global illumination, and lifelike shadows. Neon lights bounce off wet streets in ways GTA 5 simply couldn’t achieve at launch.
Character Models
Facial animations in GTA 6 appear significantly more detailed, with micro-expressions and improved hair physics.
NPC Realism
Crowds look denser and more varied. NPCs appear to react naturally to events, including recording chaos on smartphones.
Physics Engine Improvements
Vehicle deformation, water interactions, and object physics appear more realistic. Small environmental details — like clothing reacting to wind — add immersion.
In short, GTA 6 doesn’t just look better — it feels generationally ahead.
